NU stuff and more!

Check out the latest feature cause- the Ethiopian National Project. The Ethiopian National Project (ENP) works tirelessly to enable full integration of the Ethiopian-Israeli community and prevent the formation of a black underclass in Israel. The Ethiopian-Israeli population, currently standing at 120,000, has the highest rate of poverty of any social group in Israel. A full 65% of the community’s children live below the poverty line. Their economic and social deprivation, combined with a crisis of cultural transition, has a hugely negative impact on every aspect of their lives.

NU founder and director David Kramer runs the Jerusalem Marathon 10km (challenged by fans of NU facebook page) on behalf of ENP. He came 50th out of 15,000 people (not bad for two weeks training) although irony was that first 10 places were filled by Ethiopian Israeli's..

We think that the Dead Sea ROCKS!

Unfortunately, the Dead Sea and its surrounding environment have been extremely compromised. Without a change in current policies, the future looks even grimmer.  Sea level has been dropping by nearly one meter per year due to water diversions upstream and due to mineral extraction industries.

Consequences thus far include loss of one-third of the Sea’s natural surface area and much coastline, the drying up of nearby natural springs that support wildlife, and the development of hundreds of sinkholes – areas of severe land subsidence resulting from drops in the groundwater table – which have damaged infrastructure, limited economic development opportunities, and destroyed natural habitat.

We at NU Campaign say Enough is Enough! We call on you to HELP make a difference! Everytime you wear your 'Salt Rocks' t-shirt you get to advocate for the preservation of the Dead Sea! Through small actions, we CAN make CHANGE!

Yep! It’s Birthright season! NU Campaign has met with over 1,000 Birthright participants in the last 2 weeks.  NU presentations are a combination of story telling, featured causes and multi--media that expose participants to a different narrative of Israel. They focus on the human energy and spirit of Israel, a country, which has over 26,000 non-profit organizations (more than any other country in the world per capita) in the fields of humanities, environment, charity, technology, culture, protection of animals and lots more!

What a privilege having the grandson of Eliezer Ben Yehuda (father of modern Hebrew language) in the NU store today! He loved our "Ben-Yehuda" T and shared many stories about his legendary grand-father. Elie travels the world speaking to communities about his late grandfather’s vision for the State of Israel. He told me how his grandfather saw a common language as a primary pillar for the establishemnt of a new Jewish State.
